Elisa Browsh The Elyria Sterling StoryWith an artist's eye and an anthropologist's insight, Elisa Browsh's search for adventure and creativity has taken her across oceans and around the globe. Her passion for designing jewelry took an unexpected turn during a semester abroad studying anthropology in Nepal. Fascinated with gems and stones, Elisa spent her free time exploring the jewelry bazaars in Kathmandu. What began as a small importing venture with the Tibetan turquoise she found there led to the start of a vibrant career. Elisa's foray into pearl importing came in 1996, when she leveraged an impossibly tenuous contact, wrangling an invitation to an exclusive Tahitian pearl auction. On her first trip to Tahiti, a chance meeting led to a tour of one of the most important pearl farms in French Polynesia. The opportunity offered her a rare introduction to the Tahitian pearl business, and shortly thereafter she founded Elyria Pearls: a chic and sophisticated line of fine jewelry. More than a decade later, Elisa has created the artistic and accessible Elyria Sterling line. Inspired by contemporary China's fusion of East meets West, she searched the Hong Kong pearl markets for the perfect baroque element to complement this austere and architectural collection. Balancing the subtlety of sterling silver with the brilliance of white sapphires and the warmth of pearls, Elisa's new line of jewelry is a poignant expression of her own story -- the journey, the dedication, and the occasional leap of faith. |
